ഈ വെബ്സൈറ്റ് തുടങ്ങുന്നതിനു മുന്പ് തന്നെ ഇന്റര്നെറ്റില് VHSE യെ ക്കുറിച്ച് പുതുതായി എന്തെങ്കിലും matter ഉണ്ടോ എന്ന് ഗൂഗിള് സേര്ച്ച് നടത്താറുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അങ്ങനെ ലഭിച്ച ചില അഭിപ്രായങ്ങള് ഇവിടെയും പങ്കു വെക്കുന്നു. ഈ അഭിപ്രായങ്ങള് എന്റെ വ്യക്തിപരമായതല്ല എന്ന് പ്രത്യേകം പറയേണ്ടതില്ലല്ലോ. പലതിനോടും എനിക്ക് യോജിപ്പോ അനുഭാവമോ ഇല്ല എന്നും അറിയിക്കുന്നു. എങ്കിലും അവരുടെ അഭിപ്രായങ്ങളെ മാനിക്കുന്നു. വിലപ്പെട്ട പ്രതികരണങ്ങള് പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.
The vocational staff of the department includes Vocational Teacher, Vocational Instructor and Laboratory Technical Assistants. In the whole state the department is conducting 1100 batches of vocational courses. Each batch has a Vocational Teacher (VT), a Vocational Instructor (VI) and a Laboratory technical Assistant (LTA). Other non-Vocational Teachers are common irrespective of Vocational Subjects.
As per the VHSE syllabus, a total of 32 hours has been allotted to the vocational theory and vocational practical per week. As all of us know, for handling this 32 hours per week duration three officers are entrusted with the duty. Their specific duties are as follows;
1) The Vocational Teacher – For handling the theory and part of practical
2) The Vocational Instructor – Just for handling the remaining part of practical that too along with the Vocational Teacher and
3) The Laboratory Technical Assistants – For supportive function
A Vocational teacher who is drawing salary equivalent to a senior non vocational teacher (NVT Senior) or Senior Higher Secondary School Teacher (HSST Senior) is just handling 16 hours per week (8 hours for first year and 8 hours for second year – 4 hours each for practical and theory in each year), on the other hand a NVT senior or HSST senior teacher has to handle maximum of 24 hours.
A Vocational Instructor is to handle practical in each first and second year with just 8 hours duration per week per year. Though they are to handle this much work load, in rare case only it has been seen this much performance; else end up with 4 hours per week per year
On the other hand, the Laboratory Technical Assistant, who associates the course, is qualified with the same course in the plus two levels but is not allotted with any specific works.
Assessment – Out of the total 32 hours per week, if the vocational Teacher is instructed to handle 24 hours, the remaining 8 hours can be very easily handled by these well qualified Laboratory Technical Assistant alone or both of them together. In this circumstance, the need for Vocational Instructor just to handle a part of the Vocational practical need be rethought of.
Savings to the state – At present the VHSE department is conducting 1100 batches of vocational courses. Each course has one instructor. A total of 1100 instructors are serving the VHSE department. On an average each instructor is drawing around 25000 Rs. per month as salary. A total of around Rs. 33 Crore per year (2.75 crore per month) is given as salary for the instructors of VHSE department. Just by a slight modification as stated above this 33 crore per year can be saved by the state. These excess vocational instructors may be redeployed for productive purpose in other departments like Revenue. Hence the need for Vocational Instructor just to handle a part of the Vocational practical – otherwise could be handled by the Vocational Teacher and well qualified Laboratory Technical Assistant together need be rethought of.
Suggestions
1) Re-analysis on need of Vocational Instructors for conducting vocational courses
2) On cancellation of Vocational Instructor post, Up-grade of the post of LTAs to higher levels
3) As a whole the Human Resource requirement in state VHSE department need be audited and reworked to avoid leakage of our precious state revenue

VHSE itself a Waste
The VHSE department never contribute any thing to community and all posts including vocational instructors are waste. All these should be re-employed to other departments.

This is not the time to blink eyes at bitter realities
Salary alone can not be the only concern of a responsible govt. servant. He should analyse in what all ways his service is beneficial to the society. The weaknesses of VHSE are now exposed. Nobody can take the burden of crores of rupees for the job security of a few thousands. It is our duty to find out the problems and their solutions. The entire manpower of vhse should efficiently beutilised for the society. This is the best time for it. Remember! A stitch in time can save nine. This does not mean that VHSE is the only good for nothing deptt. in Kerala. Others are also being scruitinised. Our survival is in our hands. Let's act now and be the flag bearers of a new era!

One who really watches the present situation of vhse schools could not disagree with opinion of Gopakumar sir. I really appreciate him for disclosing realities

Whether a post is waste or not is determined by the academical responsibility exerted by rules but the quality of people in the post.
